Things to Consider

Adding a pet to your family (or more pets to the existing family) is a big commitment. With rising pet (vet and food) costs it’s best to be sure that you can afford those unexpected events – even considering pet insurance .

It is now available to pets of all ages

The National RSPCA site offers lots of advice to consider and is worth taking a look.It also has a pet cost calculator if this is your first pet

Some other things to think about are

  • If you are renting, do you have your landlord’s permission?
  • Have you thought about how you introduce a new pet into the family if you already have one?
  • What about if you want to go on holiday?
  • Does the pet that you are applying for suit your lifestyle? For example, most breeds of dogs need exercise and mental stimulation and they shouldn’t be left alone all day
  • Do you have a local vet and have you talked to them about their charges?
